Facebook: 51,073 substantive reports via phone calls, texts, webchats, emails, or online tips have been reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline in just one year alone. An analysis of these reports identified 10,583 situations of #trafficking with 16,658 individual/unique victims of #trafficking. This is not just a #crime that lives overseas, but a domestic problem requiring a national community-wide response. Facebook: The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reports that 19 percent of runaway reports for youth in foster care (29 percent of reports for girls and 3 percent for boys) are assessed as likely victims of #sextrafficking, based on case information reported by social service or law enforcement agencies. Boys may be underrepresented among those identified as victims because they are less likely to be involved with pimps, and thus less likely to be identified by law enforcement.
